![]() Accelerated rehabilitation program
The Berkshire is a Medicare Certified Skilled Nursing Facility, providing each patient with a focused therapy and care plan to rapidly, but safely, transition a patient home. Our therapists design and continually improve the program to challenge each patient to quickly restore functional abilities. The program successfully utilizes the following:
The goal of an accelerated rehabilitation program like The Berkshire is to assist patients in maximizing their potential and restore and recover functional abilities and confidence to return to independent living. Advanced physical, occupational, and speech therapies in The Berkshire's state-of-the-art rehabilitation facilities ensure that patients receive the most up-to-date care using the more sophisticated equipment available. The Berkshire's caring staff provide the best care available in Utah County and work closely with the patient, the family and the physician to meet the care plan and needs of each patient. Licensed nursing professionals provide 24-hour skilled care.
The difference between a nursing home and an assisted living center is in the amount of skilled or licenses services they provide. A skilled nursing facility, like The Berkshire, require a 3-day qualifying stay at a hospital to trigger the Medicare "A" rehabilitation benefit which covers 100% of the first 20 days. The remaining 80 days are also covered by Medicare except for a daily coinsurance amount. Assisted living centers are able to take residents any time and are usually private pay. They provide less on-site skilled care and nursing and therapy services are more limited and usually only available through a home health agency. The Berkshire has maintained its well earned reputation in the community as a family-centric, caring and effective program due to its well trained and dedicated staff.
