FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The Berkshire wants to ensure that all of your questions are answered prior to providing services.  The following represent the more frequently asked questions.  If you would like a tour (and we encourage you to come by) or have other questions please contact us.

Q.   What are the requirements for admission to this unique facility?

A.   The Berkshire is a Medicare Certified Skilled Nursing Facility.  A three (3) day qualifying stay in a hospital is required to activate your Medicare "A" benefits.  There are some exceptions and requirements that must be met so contact us to see if you qualify.

Q.    If I really like it here, can I stay here once my rehab is complete?

A.    We are a transitional rehab facility and do not provide extended stays.  The maximum stay is approximately 100 days.  If long-term care is needed, we can help you locate an appropriate placement.

Q.    Do you specialize in Rehabilitation?

A.    Yes, The Berkshire's focus is on all patient needs, especially rehab to accelerate recovery after surgery.  Rehab can significantly increase endurance after a severe illness affecting the heart and lungs, cancer treatments, or any other condition requiring hospitalization. The Berkshire works directly with a Physician to develop the best possible plan for you or your loved one.

Q.    Can I go home with the Home Health Company of my choice?

A.    Yes.  If you have previously received services from a home health agency and would like to remain with them, we encourage that relationship to continue.  If you are not associated with a home health agency, our Social Services professional can assist you.

Q.    Can I use my own Physician during my stay?

A.    Yes.  We will provide transportation to your doctor’s appointments.  Or you may choose to use our in-house physician to work with you in our facility.
